Women's Right to Land Ownership: what are the social issues in Ivory Coast ?
Among the Akan, the rules of land appropriation and renewable resource management are linked to the status and roles attributed to the agent in the kinship. This institution is a system of rules and norms that governs social dynamics and dictates the behavior of agents. In the Affery sub-prefecture, though these rules were constructed by the uterine lineage, current observation shows that reports related to land are dominated by relationships embedded in the household. This restructuring generates new modes of access to land for women. This socio-land change generates issues that are analyzed from a sociological perspective. The data collected, based on qualitative and quantitative approaches, highlights female leadership, which is appreciated by women's ability to positively influence family well-being and the rural development process. In addition, this study reveals the evolution of perverse behaviors observed among women and the recurrence of land conflicts between genders, which most often lead to the ordination of women, thus weakening the endogenous development process.
